In a move that has locals both salivating and reminiscing about awkward teenage birthdays, La Porchetta has confirmed it will return to Bendigo after more than a decade away.
Locals are already debating whether their excitement comes from a genuine craving for pizza and pasta or the warm glow of remembering their Year 10 formal afterparty in 2004.
“I remember my first date there,” said local dad Steve Merryman. “We split a garlic bread, and then she dumped me before we had mains. Still the best marinara I’ve ever had."
Bob Cant from Strath Heights said, "I'm still looking for the waiter who didn't bring my change back.”
Local Nonna Carmela Russo told The Bendigo Standard, “People like-a the cheese."
The restaurant is expected to open later this year, with the council already preparing for increased traffic, both in cars and in cholesterol.
La Porchetta has also confirmed that the dessert menu will still feature that ice cream cake no one orders.
