VicRoads is looking into a number of incidents at the local roadworks working bee after 20 people were injured.

Most of the accidents were caused by leaning on shovels while pretending to look busy. A supervisor said "500 people turned up but no one had any idea what to do."

One man lost an arm when he leaned on a shovel that was facing upside down. Another man had his foot amputated after his son ran a steamroller over his leg while holding a stop sign. The mans foot would have been saved if he wasn't wearing crocs on a construction site.

WorkSafe is looking into the issue.
