A bowl of Easter chocolate is expected to remain on the Duffman household's kitchen bench until at least November, sources confirmed this morning.
The assortment includes a Cadbury family block, several foil-wrapped eggs of unknown origin and one Lindt bunny with a slightly crushed ear. Residents have described the bowl as "just there if anyone wants some."
The harvest-orange melamine bowl was purchased from Kmart by Great Grandma Duffman in 1975 and has since outlasted three marriages, two kitchen renovations and a period in which it was used exclusively for keys.
The chocolate is expected to undergo a brief, shame-driven relocation to the top shelf of the pantry in late May before an "I forgot we had that" incident in early October returns it to the bench, where it is expected to remain until at least November.
At press time, a visiting neighbour had accepted one foil egg from the bowl and said, "Oh, I shouldn't," which sources confirmed was the correct response and also a complete lie.
